Health Impact
Being an unpaid carer can significantly impact on an individuals health and wellbeing.
60% of carers report a long term health condition of their own, compared to only 50% of non-carers. (GP Patient Survey, 2021)
29% of unpaid carers experience loneliness and social isolation (State of Caring, 2022).
There is an expanding base of evidence that the vocation of caring should be considered detrimental to social and health wellbeing (Public Health England, 2021)
Every Little Helps
Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community!
‘Unpaid carers provide vital support to loved ones, often at great personal cost to their own health, wellbeing, and financial stability. Many face isolation, limited access to respite, and challenges in meeting everyday expenses. Our foundation can offer targeted, timely assistance that national programs may overlook. By understanding the community’s specific needs, we may be able to fund essentials such as small items of equipment, transport, food parcels, wellbeing activities and any small interventions that make a big difference. Local grants can be more flexible and responsive, cutting through bureaucracy to provide swift help in urgent situations. They also demonstrate to carers that their role is valued and recognised, encouraging community solidarity.
